Floris wit-Blanche (5%)
by DanCave on Jun.04, 2009, under Beer Reviews, Misc Beer
This is the first of the bottles to be plucked from the box-o-beer from beer merchants.
The gorgeous design of the bottle and label first catch your eye when you see it. In my opinion not enough beers have pretty enough labels like this.

Floris wit-Blanche
Anyway, the ultimately unimportant label isn’t what I bought this beer for. Beermerchants own literature describe Floris Wit as a summery, easy drinking fruity-citrus whitbier. They recommend serving with the sediment at 3-5 degrees centigrade so thats exactly what I’ve done.
The bottle opens without any fuss and pours very neatly in to the free glass from @BeerMerchants which is clean and dry to maintain the head.
Being a witbier it never clears, suspended yeast and wheat proteins cause the beer to look hazy, but still looks fantastic, its light yellow like a “real lemonade” but darker.
Finally to the drinking!
Delicious! I confess this isn’t the first time I’ve had Floris wit. I know its a fantastic beer, Its the sort of beer you can drink any time, with food or by itself at any time of day at any point wether stone cold sober or very very drunk.
The flavor is the very definition of wirbier without being too challenging. The smell is strong and wheaty but inviting. If you want a good introduction to witbier buy this pronto!
Drink with Thai food and mussels apparently!
Tid Bit: In Germany Wheat beers are all top-fermented because they have to be by law!
